1. What is it like being Christian in Japan? (How do people view christians in Japan?)
Reply: Well being a Christian in Japan isn't uncommon, and quite a number of people actually believe in Christianity.
Though it's a belief that was brought in by foreigners, because it was an idea that was favored by the daimyos in the Meiji Restoration Era, a lot of people support it!
2. What role do Christian churches in japan play in you society?
Reply:Going to church every Sunday is a routine in our lives, and I guess it also creates a bit of a religious society.
3. What role do you play as a member of your church?
Reply: Hm though approximately 3 million people consider themselves Christian, most people don't attend church. I am one of the few people who actually go, and when I do, I usually help with community service or donating goods to the poor.
4. What impact does your Christian life have on your view of society?
Reply: I don't know how to say it besides saying that I have a Christian view on things, but I do prefer the more conservative aspects of Japanese culture over the liberal ones depending on the aspects.
5. How do Christians in Japan view other religions? (Is there any discrimination?)
Reply: We respect other religions. Though we think other people should convert to Christianity, I have a personal belief to respect other people's religions. I do not think that there is much discrimination, and least that I know of.
6. How influential is Christianity on Japanese society?
Reply: Though I stated earlier that quite a bit of the Japanese population believes in Christianity, it's a pretty small percentage of the entire population. I meant that there are more Christians than one would expect in Japan. I don't think that Christianity in Japan is as influential as it is in Korea.
7. How is Christianity in Japan unique to Japan?
Reply: I believe Christianity in Japan doesn't have too many unique features, and it instead is very similar to European Christianity because that is where it was spread directly from.
8. How aware are Japanese people about Christianity in their country?
Reply: Christianity is pretty well known in Japan, and I'm pretty sure that they're very aware of its existence.
9. How do you think Christianity will develop in Japan in the future?
Reply: I hope that it will spread to a larger population, and think this is possible over time.
10. Does being Christian help you create relationships internationally?
Yes, I have been able to go on trips to volunteer in developing countries with other Christians from all over the world.
